Mapuche music performance of Pukutriñuke in Amsterdam

This years the Folil foundation is working on a collaborative project with the Mapuche music band Pukutriñuke from Santiago de Chile. Together with other European organizations, we are supporting the event of an European tour to celebrate the band's 20th anniversary. The band will starts its performance in Barcelona, followed by visits to other European cities like Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Pukutriñuke's music is a powerful crossover of punk, metal, and hip hop, enriched with traditional Mapuche instruments such as the trutruka (a horn-like wind instrument). The lyrics are social critical and address themes such as anti-colonialism, cultural identity, the indigenous view of Abya Yala (Latin America), and the struggle for the return of ancestral Mapuche territory. The vocals are in both Spanish and Mapudungun, the language of the Mapuche.
